In Madibeng, the town planning department is in free-fall - two town planners have been suspended, and one is leaving a sinking ship, leaving only three behind.

Two senior planners were suspended on April 15 pending disciplinary hearings. One of the suspended planners, the department head, Mr. Thiathu Rambuda, has already resigned to take a position in a private practice in Johannesburg.

Donald Makheda, the Acting Head Town Planning, announced his resignation in an email sent to colleagues. This leaves Madibeng Town Planning with only three of the six professional positions filled.

Thiathu Rambuda, who is in the midst of a disciplinary hearings with Tshipiwe Nekhwevha, who was suspended with him on April 15, said that he intended resigning several times in the past because of the chaotic work conditions at Madibeng.

The Editor of Madibeng Pulse comments that Madibeng is largely being mismanaged by dishonest and incompetent political appointees to the point when the NW Premier had to invoke section 139.
